Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, has been recognized as the best city to travel to in 2024 by the renowned travel firm Lonely Planet. The “Best in Travel 2024” list features 10 travel destinations across countries, cities, sustainability, and value categories.
Nairobi secured the top spot in the cities’ rankings, surpassing well-known cities like Paris and Montreal. The city’s rise to prominence is attributed to its vibrant culture, diverse culinary scene, and a growing array of arts and cultural venues. Lonely Planet highlighted some of Nairobi’s attractions, including traditional music and dance performances at the Bomas of Kenya, early morning walks in the Ngong Hills Forest with stunning views of Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro, budget-friendly safaris in Nairobi National Park, and panoramic views from the top of the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
President William Ruto expressed enthusiasm about Nairobi’s recognition and emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting Kenya as a top international destination. He sees this acknowledgement as a significant boost to Kenya’s crucial tourism industry.
