A Tanzania eVisa is a type of visa that allows you to visit the United Republic of Tanzania for tourism purposes, such as sightseeing, leisure, or visiting friends and relatives. Depending on your nationality, you may or may not need a visa to enter Tanzania for up to 90 days. If you do need a visa, you can apply for one online through the Tanzania Electronic Visa Application System or in advance at the nearest Tanzanian embassy or consular office.

You can also extend your visa for another three months at the Immigration Services Department in Dar es Salaam. If you are travelling with children under 18, you must also carry a certified copy of their birth certificate and consent from the other parent if applicable.

Citizens of around 70 countries, including the USA, the UK, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Canada, can enter Tanzania without a visa for up to 90 days. You just need a valid passport for at least six months after the return date and a return ticket.

All other travellers need to apply for a visa online through the Tanzania Electronic Visa Application System or in advance at the nearest Tanzanian embassy or consular office.

How long is the Tanzania Visa valid?

The Tanzania eVisa allows a maximum stay of 90 days Per Entry from the date of arrival, within one calendar year. It can be either a single-entry or a multiple-entry visa, depending on the type of eVisa you apply for. Once the permitted stay is over, you must leave the country to avoid legal problems. Although an extension is possible, it is not guaranteed and does not grant multiple entries. You can apply for an extension at the Immigration Services Department in Dar es Salaam.
